How accurate does this thread need to befor this purpose? Assuming the
thread doesn't need super high accuracy for your project, you could possibly
cut it by hand the same way threads were made before the advent of automatic
threading machines. That would be a lot faster and cheaper than trying to
alter the lathe! If you want to try that ann need some help with setting
the tube of to make the thread manually, let me know. Some antique guns
have screws with threads that don't match any existing standards. The only
way to make a replacement screw (sans a CNC machine) is to make them by
hand.
