Nicaragua machine shops

Hello friends,
I was out for a week to Nicaragua.

I always thought here in Costa Rica the machine shops would be in bad
shape.
The Nicas are than still 40 years behind the Ticos.
At the nail and wire factory (about 200 employees) I visited the only
machine in
good shape was a 3,5 ton surface grinder that is out of service for 10
years now.
They damaged it when they installed it. The machine they use actually
rides already
on the drive pinion and has more than 8mm taper on the bed way. High
precision!!!
The operator sits with his crossed arms below a real size poster from
Daniel
Ortega reading the news paper. The factory some when had a good
administration
as I can see out of their equipment selection but those people got
possibly killed during the war.
I don't see a change for these people to get out of the mess with such
an attitude.

I was told that the only shop with CNC equipment was installed years ago

and never took up its work. The machines should be completely rusted
meanwhile.

By the way I will not be able to catch up with all the notes that came
in this week.
(more than 650).
