Aren't any of you near water? I have always dreamed of having a stream in my
back yard or river nearby so I could build a little water wheel and generate
my own power. Seems with all the big stepper motors lying about it wouldn;t
be such a difficult task.
I watched a program here last night on new technology (Tomorrows world) and
in that a guy in Australia is planning to fly a load of very basic
helicopter-type things like kites. The 'generator' will be powered to get
the things airborn and to a suitable height to catch the best winds and they
will then be ties off and the free rotation of the rotors will both keep the
thing aloft and generate up to about 6 gigawatts of power from each 'copter.
