Cadkey had gone through some very bad times at that time. The CEO
Livingston Jeffries was doing a bad job of running his company. I am
sure glad that "Baystate Technologies" has taken over the business.
Things are much better now.

The company you are talking about was called "Keysafe." My first
company I worked for used their software so we could put the "keys" in
a safe place. I'm sure glad that Cadkey does not use the dongle
anymore, at least for the USA. For many years we (USA) had no
protection at all, just a S/N. Now they are moving to FlexLM.

I talked to Cadkey about giving out an old version of their software.
I thought that maybe people in this group, or others that can't afford
the $3000.00 to $4000.00 dollars for current Cadkey would benefit by
this action. Cadkey would look good in the public eye for letting an
old version of their software out to public domain. But the answer I
got back from them was NO. They said that if I had copies of older
versions that I could give them away. By sending a letter to Cadkey
with the licnese number and the name of the new owner, they would
transfer the license to the new owner.

Now I wished I'd kept all thoes old Cadkey CD's and manuals. I tossed
out around 60 copies of old licensed Cadkey products about a year ago.
I now only have one copy of each old version of Cadkey, just because I
wanted to keep a record of versions we have used.
