Doug,
I often buy cheap 1/2" diameter 6061-T6 bar stock. Sometimes the stock is
.01" out of round. Of course this is extruded stock. The precion OD'd stuff
is very expensive. I wonder if you could put a OD turning tool just ahead of
the bushing to true up the bar. Is this done on a comemrcial basis? I suppose
most would opt for the correct matrial to cut down on headaches.... Just
thinking of building a bushing assembly that bolts onto the saddle of a
regular lathe to "convert" it to Swiss style turning if not a Swiss style
lathe.
