In the US, most '220' service delivers 240+ volts to the house.
Measure it, and you will see it is definitely on the high side.
Most equipment rated at 220 have the capability to run from
240 V without harm. Equipment rated strictly for 208 V may
not, however. If you have voltage adjusting jumpers, you can
set it for 240 V and it should extend the life of the equipment.
