G320s, New and Improved!

Hi,
This is just a note to everyone interested and a shameless, self
serving plug and an egeregious example of exploitative mercantilism.
I have run off the first batch of much improved G320 drives. They
will be beta tested Tim and a few others who have graciously accepted
to do so. If no problems present themselves then they will supplant
the existing version in the future. Same price and completely
backwards compatible with the old version.
They work very well indeed; hardly a mistake on them. Here's what's
new:
1) Very quiet audibly due to a gain/damping reduction circuit when
within +/- 2 counts of command position. Motor stiffness is greatly
increased because gain and damping can be set much "hotter" now
without incurring the negative effects of dithering.
2) Encoder A/B channel filtering. A 5 uS filtering time constant
eliminates noise sensitivty on these signals. This should go a long
way to making the encoder cable sheilding simpler.
3) Modular 2-piece pluggable main connector, the same as what's used
on the G201.
4) Active clamping on the integrator to eliminate "integrator wind-
up" during large excursions of servo position error.
5) Improved PWM circuit. Modulation is 2% to 98% now.
6) No Balsa Wood trees are harmed now in the manufacturing process.
There are other improvements as well but they are to minor to mention
at this point.
Next up (45 days if all goes well) is the G420 which will be a
brushless DC servo motor version of the G320. Same ratings of 80VDC
and 20A max and same size of course. Step and direction input, PID
servo.
Following that will be two as yet un-named classic servo amplifier
versions of the G320 and G420. That means +/- 10V or 0 to 5V control
input, current mode, voltage mode and IR compensated output.
As these projects progress and the demands on me lessen, I will have
more time to post again. Right now this is pretty much a 7 day a
week, 16 hour a day situation.
