What I couldn't find was a description anywhere of which modules were needed to do
what. I also couldn't figure out what to download for the RT kernel for the same
reasons. I'm no stranger to unix (also no expert), in my opinion the explanations
of how to put emc together without using bdi are practically nonexistent. Did I
look in the wrong places? It seems like http://www.linuxcnc.org/ should be a good
place.
As you can probably tell, my experiences in trying to figure out how to get started
with emc made me pretty frustrated. Despite good feedback on this group, my
experiences led me to believe it would take tons of work to bring up something I
wasn't sure would do me any good when I was done. I'm now on a Vector/cncpro path
that I'm fairly happy with. If I were going to try it again, I would probably go
bdi.
I guess my point (besides venting) is that whoever is running the emc web pages
still has some work ahead of them.
Thanks,
Steve Smith
