ALL REPLIES TO THIS POST TO BE OFF LIST TO MYSELF OR TIM
The list was set up to discuss CAD, CAM (CNC), EDM, and DRO, in a home shop
setting only, with commercial people welcomed, but not discussions of
commercial shop problems and procedures, unless coming under the above guide
lines.
I believe I have been lenient for the most part with OT discussions, until it
just continues to run on and on. When that happens I ask the subject to be
dropped.
It was voted a long time ago to allow a person to mention an item he had for
sale, but to take the actual sale discussion off list. Also no flaming on
list.
Admittedly some of the OT posts are of interest to me also, but they don't
have a place on this list.
Sometimes it will look like both Tim and myself are being arbitrary, but we
get bunches of e-mail to back up our position, and we are going to continue
to do what we think is right for the list. There are very few emails
received to back up the off topic postingsless than 4 the last time.
As soon as we start getting a long winded subject like TAPPING, HOW TO FIND
THE RIGHT SHOP, I see a drop off of list related postings, a larger number of
people coming on to the list and then unsubscribing almost immediately.
I guess in the end I have to take the heat and responsibility, and when I do,
and ask a subject to be taken off list, I expect it to be done. I have two
weaposn that I really don't want to use, bann a non complying member, or with
one stroke kill the list forever. And you can be assured that I really don't
want to do either.
Thanks
bill
