Hi Fred

Leaving aside any patent claims by FMSLabs (my views are well known on this
subject), this is quite a feasible proposition. A small processor board as
used by several EPOS suppliers would have all the necessary ports on board.
How about a small board about the same size as a 5 1/4 drive with all the
parallel, NIC, and serial ports ?
Oh, and EMC running from a flash ROM (Video onboard just in case)...

With one or two minor reservations, I would say that your "need" could be
filled by EMC - And as a bonus, a GPL realtime linux free from any dubious
patent claims thrown in.

The hardware could be no more than a small PC with 32M RAM, 1Gig HD, with a
233Mhz processor - I have this boxed up and ready to bring with me to NAMES :)

Regards, Paul.
