my thought was that a manual rotary switch would have to be turned back to
"automatic", reconnecting the computer to the gecko directly... when the
switch was in 'jog', the encoder on the knob would send it's quatriture
signal to a chip that would create step/direction (can it produce
direction???? see my later post) which is in turn sent to a step multiplier
of some sort (controlled by another switch)... this would only work if the
computer had some way of detecting where the machine is, as with a true
encoder feedback system, like the servo-to-go board and the pico-systems
PPMC... or the computer would just try to resume where it THOUGHT it was...
right?---Dave L.
but its seeming to just be getting too complicated, and the direction keys
on the keyboard for EMC are just fine by me!

Hi Dave,
I see your thoughts, but while I'd like to be able to get at the jumpers
(unplug Gecko, unbolt from heatsink, remove cover, THEN change
jumpers), You'd alter the steps/in, and the program would loose track!
Better I think to just read a rotary sw, pot, or "bump" settings from a
PB or encoder.
