DB-9 is a misnomer, the correct name is DE-9. This
could be the reason for the search failure. D shell
connectors are quite old, somehow the names got lost
in time.

The D stands for the connector shape
The letter for the size, and the number for the number
of pins:
DA-15 = 15 pin like the game port in a PC
DB-25 = 25 pin like the parallel port
DC-37 = 37 pin
DD-50 = 50 pin
DE-9 = 9 pin like the serial port
DEH-15 = high density 15 pin like in the VGA
connector.

BTW, Amphenol rates their RR series DE-9 at 500 Volt
AC/5 Amp.
