First off the answer is Yes it is worth it.
Now remember the BDI is not just EMC. It is a complete distribution of
Linux with many optional tools included to allow development work. If
you just want EMC to install on an existing installation of Linux then
you have to go to Source Forge and download either the source code and
compile it or a pre-compiled binary. It will be MUCH smaller than the
BDI.
