It's so. I ran into this with mine too. I thought it was disingenious to
have to power up the computer to use an electronic disable so I could cut
manually, but the only alternative is actual switch in your stepper lines.
Howevr, all that said, once you cut out the electical connectivity in the
circuit, stepper will not hold your axes in position as it will when left
hooked up.
