Mike,

Best way to do that is:

(1) Clip the opto out by snipping all 8 leads right at the plastic
package. You won't get the opto out without destroying it anyway
unless you have a re-work station.

(2) Unsolder each lead from the bottom while pulling the lead out
from the top with tweezers.

(3) Chase each hole with a .031" drill bit. It's best to have the bit
in a miniature chuck you can twrill thith your thumb and forefinger.

(4) Use compressed air to blow any solder chips off of the drive.

(5) Use a Mill-Max Series 315..01 socket (Digi Key ED7864-ND). These
come in lengths of 64 pins. Use an Exacto knife to cut it in lenghts
of 4 pins. If you plan to get the multiplier from us (G901), let me
know and I will throw in the sockets.

(6) Solder the sockets in with .025" dia. rosin core solder.
