Hi John,
The only exception I found to the higher speed with 1/2 coil, was
with a nema42 size stepper. I had one that just would not operate
well with 1/2 coils used, but works perfectly with full coil.
None of the coils appeared damaged when tested either. I tried
the other side combinations of 1/2 coil with the same result. Full
coil and it worked perfect.
