I have, and I know you can get long " bellows" type protectors in many
sizes. They are used to protect hydraulic cylinder shafts, I think they
are expensive though it would be easy for a woman with a sewing machine and
some good apolstery material. You can get the new ones from a hydraulic
dealer.
