I just thought I had to throw this in: the motor-driven pump
solder vacuums all have micron filters on the suction line,
to trap atomized solder dust. I don't really have enough
information to know the magnitude of the danger, but I
think it should be considered. If you will be using either an
aspirator-type or mechanical pump, you might want to
buy (Pace sells them) or make such a device. Actually,
for either type pump, it wouldn't help the pump to get
all that gunk in there, either.
