A hot air unit like this does work great, doesn't it? You'll also find that you can weld plastics with a unit like this. Just
get some plastic rod (thin) and weld plastic the same way you'd weld steel with an oxyacetylene torch. It's great for filling
in rock gouges in the bottom of kayaks too.
