Just thought I would interject.

One of the products that we at Dolphin supply is the
HES BTR card (BTR stands for Behind Tape Reader).
The purpose of this card is to replace Tape Punch/Readers
on the older type of NC controllers such as GE1050.

Our product fits a wide variety of NC Controllers
including the GE1050, it also has the facility to load
the GE1050 Executive Tape which means you can dispense
with the Tape Reader completely.

The product is very robust and we have been supplying it
for about 7 years.

Our most recent installation was on a GE1050T just 6 weeks
ago.

If you wish any information on this please contact me offlist,
at www.mmmmilligan@... for further details.

Regards

Michael

Ray:
Thanks for your response. I have a GTE4601 tape punch, etc. and can make
tapes. I also have a retired GE 1050 engineer who lives close by and is
willing to help me. The MSD (machine setup data) is a tape that you load
after the main executive tape. This has all the parameters which customize
the control to a given machine. With all this in mind I still tend to agree
with you that I should upgrade to a state of the art setup. Do you really
think that is would be easier to scrap the whole control and start over?
Will the equipment you mentioned interface with the Gettys DC drives and the
Contrares(sp?) dc spindle drive? What is "EMC" and where can I read more
about systems like this?
