Gene,
Couple of ways to get a terminal window
1) Click on the icon on the task bar at the bottom of the KDE Desktop
that looks like a computer monitor. That will bring up a terminal
screen. At the command line type 'cd /usr/local/emc' (without the
quotes of course)
2) Open the file browser by clicking on the icon on the KDE taskbar
and navigate your way to the emc directory using the arrows in
the top left part of the window. When you are at the EMC directory
enter ctrl and t (hold the control key down and hit the letter t). This
will open a terminal window in the EMC directory
After you get to there using either of the two ways above, type
'./emc.run' (dot slash emc dot run) - no quotes If you are using
a different start file substitute the name of the one you are using.
eg ./generic.run or ./sim.run
Note: linux is case sensitive. ./emc.run is different than ./Emc.Run
the latter will give an error message. Same rule applies to cd
/usr/local/emc
as in method #1
