Thanks for the advice, Tim. The white papers you pointed me to are very informative. After checking out the power supply in question, it is a switching power supply (rats!). I will take your advice and do some more searching through the group's posts. Anyone with a good source for a 24v linear power supply is welcome to help me out.

take you to the power supply section, but I would recommend the complete
white paper as must type reading.

$60 for a 24 v 8.5 amp supply is a good deal if it is a linear supply and
not a switcher. Switch type supplies can be made to work, but sometimes will
cause you additional troubles you don't need as a beginner. Better to stick
with a linear supply.
