Re: Max feedrate of ball screws?

Disregarding mechanical efficiencies, belts, leadscrews , chains etc have no relationship to the size of the motor needed.

The torque of the motor is determined by the force needed to move the load and the amount of motor steps needed to traverse the full axis distance. Some systems just put a spur gear on the motor shaft to drive along a rack , others use timing belts from the motor to the spur gear.

If you get a copy of the superior electrics stepper motor catalogue there are various drive systems and formulas to determine stepper sizes. there was and probably still is software online for motor sizing purposes but I have forgotten any details
