Randy,
I looked at one of these recently at HF. It's not a problem.
(Unless you have loaded a hundred pound item and are using the
extremes of travel! And even then, probably not. I was looking at
this and wondering (don't know how long it had been there, as at our
local HF it was hidden under the bench which has the 7x,9x and 3-in-1
machines) WHY they don't make the table a bit longer...
It would be VERY possible to mfr this machine as a 12 inch X...
And as the previous poster noted, it's a great little machine for the
price. I don't think one needs to change to ball screws; as long as
the backlash adjustment is tended to... (which is made MUCH easier
than the mill drills, BTW)
Compared to the proxxon or similar: this would give far more bang,
IMO, for about the same bucks!
