program option would ONLY do threads, nothing else, and no G-code
involved. The actual electronic gearing function is quite simple,
especially
if you have floating-point arithmetic available.

The real problem is integrating this into a VERY complex structure like EMC,
and handling all the incredibly complex interactions with tool length and
radius compensation, offsets, acceptable machine accelerations, and all the
other details of the possible G-code modes that could affect the operation.
G-code is quite powerful, but the interactions, dependencies and side
effects
all need to be fully thought through before coding.
