If you connect your multi meter to the Gecko terminal, you can get a
resistance reading from the coil that the wires are connected to. If
you get ANY reading across the coils (phases) you got a problem.

Check the resistor by restance checking the screw terminals. make
sure it is in range.

If you are concerend, I have heard people connecting a regular 60
wall light bulb up on the DC line. the ligh acts as a safety
switch. as an in-line reisistor, it will allow current to flow. but
when it sees a dead short, the bulb lights and drops the current so
saves the circuit.

I am assumeing you do know there is no AC connected, just the light
bulb as if it were a resistor.
