You probably need encoders. Geckos will only handle encoders with less than .05 milliamp draw. Thats .05 m/a not .5 as most of the old encoders are. If your current requirements are higher than .05 m/A you would have to use an auxillary power supply and it gets messy. The US digitals are 5 volts @ .025 m/A draw. If the resolution is high you will have to use Gecko 340's as they are for high resolution and more expensive, the cost difference equaling an encoder. US digital has them for $40 a piece and the model number E5S-200. They work perfectly with the Geckos. They have all different mounting configurations. If I remember correctly the Gecko320's will only handle like 250 quadrature or 1000 counts per revolution.
