I thought so too.

But, when I followed the links, there are dozens of requests for the
data sheet. and the only response I found was a guy who had it in
print and offered to mail to to somebody. That was an old post.

I have seen 5 phase steppers in the surplus market, but avoided them
for the lack of a simple driver solution.

It would seem that a microcontroller would be needed if one wanted to
use these things.

Anyone have a 5 phase driver circuit ? or links to the PMM8714 data
sheets ?
