If I remember correctly the original motors have a 5/8 shaft so you
probably
wouldn't have to buy new pulleys. With a 75V supply the motor will
have a top
speed of about 1700RPM giving a max theoretical rapid speed of
340IPM :-0. With
1:1 drive a 200 line encoder is pretty marginal. You really need
something like
500 lines or more."

Really???!!! Sounds to me like this might be a winner. If I don't
have to do a reduction, life just got a whole lot easier! Yes, the BP
steppers DO use a 5/8" shaft...that would make these motors a no
brainer.

I like what I am hearing about the Rutex drives...not too concerned
with the ease of wiring...if there is a performance/reliability
reward to it. I've looked at the Rutex drives and it looks like they
have a plug-in motherboard for them that would simplify things a bit.

I know somewhere in my travels there was mention of someones encoder
being TOO fine for the servo driver...What encoder would you
recommend/suggest I look into for this app? Will the surplus center
one work? US Digital? Renco? Any particular model? I'm pretty sure
that there is a 5v limit on the Rutex & Gecko encoder supply...I
thought that the Campbell BO board had a power supply on there for
the encoders too? Am I mistaken?
