Addendum...I also have a 70% efficiency factor for the gear reduction in my

This is good news for me because your calcs agree with mine :)

If I have done it correctly I also get a linear force of 450lbs with 4-1
reduction at the 20A motor torque of 275 oz-in and a conservative guess at
screw efficiency of 30%. I think a ball screw would have a better
efficiency. If I take out the efficiency factor the force is 1500lbs.

Those prices start looking real good in light of the recent discussion

motors! At 20 A, the peak torque you'd get is only 274 Oz-In. But, due to
the high speed, that would still be 1096 Oz-In with a 4:1 reduction. 6000
RPM /4 = 1500 at the screw, and would give 300 IPM rapid feeds with a 5 TPI
screw! They should work fine!
