For simple 2D CAD/CAM, Qcad. For 3D CAD/CAM, Synergy, Pro-E, gCAD3D. Others in
development include sagcad.

Current kernel in the BDI-4 build is 2.6.9 - Waiting for some more testing to
be done on the adeos patch, then 2.6.10 will be the next one to use.

Don't forget, With major corporations like IBM and HP pumping billions of $ in
to linux, coupled with 35 years of Unix development, the range of
applications available is vast. Want to do some 3D animation, look at the kit
Pixar uses for some of their blockbusters. Henderson (remember the Muppets)
uses RTLinux for much of their animatronics - Need I go on ?

BTW. If you need the full BDI disk set (built from Debian Sarge), it currently
stands at 15 CDs.
