I agree, cooling will be very important with these types of motors.
However, Did you ever consider making your own brushless motor to
suit your needs? Larger diameter for higher torque for instance. The
R/C aircraft folks have a whole group who assemble & wind their own
motors. It's really very simple. And, since we are all CNC types, it
is even easier.... Cad design the armature plates, CNC mill them,
turn the end bell to fit a standard steel tube, glue in super
magnets, add a bearing housing & yer done. Not a bad project to fool
with. (The DIY Brushless motor activity started with R/Cer's
rewinding CD Rom motors to suit their needs.) The motor controller
you could buy, or some EE out there could whip them up, and Viola! A
whole new cottage industry is launched.
