This sounds very much like a 4-axis miling machine, minus the Z axis. The
spindle is, in essense, the 'A' axis, right? Mach3 should have no difficulty
handling that. That said, generating g-code for a setup like that may be a
little challenging because this is not a common configuration, I think, and
I don't know what kind of software would support that.
If you can't use spindle as an 'A' axis, then I am sure you can still hook
up a stepper motor to the spindle. I do not know if mach3 can drive that. It
probably can. But even if it cannot, it'd be fairly straightforward to get
some hardware pulse generator and hook use that. So, the approach sounds
fine to me.
