Hummm. 1750 sure sounds like a AC motor spec. If you say its a DC
motor then that RPM must be at a given voltage. The speed adjustment
box may have a method to use an external analog voltage to control the
motor speed. If not you can replace the motor control box with one
that does.

Using it in servo mode is possible if you need it for postioning
control but for simple speed control it would be overkill. There are
DC motor controls that will keep it within 10% of a set speed using
Back EMF as well as let you set the target speed via a 0-10V analog
signal. Several solutions to provide a 0-10 speed signal from MACH3
are available.
