If you use a step/dir servo drive, then the step/dir signals could be
routed THROUGH a PIC or other uP from the CNC controller program, or the
PIC could generate it's own variable speed (and direction) steps,
adjusted by a pot.
I'M LOOKING for a servo motor w/ encoder of about 100 watts as a
replacement for a Sherline spindle motor on my lathe.
I already have a PIC program that can generate acceleration/deceleration
ramps and controlled by a pot, and Dave M. has milled a "piggy back"
board to fit on the back of my LCD to run the code. The LCD wouldn't be
necessary, but is useful.
A simple PB or switch will signal the PIC to change from "Stepper
Pulser" to "pass through" modes.
