If under 30 volts, you might get better performance from steppers
with a higher voltage system. There are a couple of reasonably
priced stepper drivers around with 3-5 smp and 50 volt ratings.

ie 2 1/2 hp. Possibly too big for this small of a machine. What
size does the mfg recommend? They show a 1 1/4 hp, Kress spindle
which is probably as big as the machine can use. The long Z axis
and clearance may make things a little wobbly.

16mm ( .406 in ) is really too small for a nema 34 motor with a 1/2
shaft. For best results your leadscrew minor diameter should be the
same size or larger than your motor shaft.


Our pmdc servos with belt reducers will drive this machine at about
175 ipm. However, I recommend that you limit the spindle hp to
around 1 hp or less for best machine balance.
