You and Mariss are both right about stepper over servos on the Techno Esel
router. That said, Techno has sold quite a few of the servo systems that
were a direct drive to a 5mm pitch ballscrew. They used a couple different
servo motors. For the XY axis they used C23 servo motors rated at about 400
oz in peak as I recall. The Z axis motor had a bit more torque and had a
brake mounted on it. None-the -less there are many happy techno owners that
love those machines
