IMO The real point is that there are MANY factors BESIDES holding
torque to consider when deciding upon a motor...

The system Dave is selling will be EXCELLENT for SOME things...

For many others it will be not so good...
(the motor/drive COMBINATION; as you've understood)

If folks UNDERSTAND the tradeoffs; perhaps we ALL can benefit and
not keep chasing an ethereal "torque war"...

More importantly; people will get better results overall, and not
end up wondering why the new "improved" setup didn't improve
things...

Mariss has said also that folks often misuse the technology by
increasing motor voltage beyond--sometimes FAR beyond--what is
necessary had some simple DESIGN issues been considered...

IMO, We mfrs. and distributors need to do a better job of EDUCATING
the customer so that the DIY-CNC arena gets the best results. AFTER
we've done that; then what happens is in the hands of the person
making the decision...

I've just been reading the "builds" of (IMO) too many folks on
various sites who didn't seem to know and/orunderstand some of the
things I put in that post.
