I suppose it's inevitable that when someone proposes a new idea the owners
of the old idea will always object. I've heard it a thousand times, "Oh,
we've already got that covered." Far as I can tell, jobshophomeshop gets
almost no action. I always figured it was of interest only to retired
machinists. Not everyone who is interested in CNC is a machinist.
Maybe MMG won't do any better, but I think the idea behind it is better. If
anything, the name choice was a little unfortunate, as I think the inclusion
of CNC in the name may narrow the focus too much. CNC, and process
automation in general, should be of interest to any small- or
micro-manufacturer. But it is the manufacturing and business elements of the
activity that (I presume) are the real topic of MMG.
Who knows, maybe the owners of the old idea will try to block this message.
It wouldn't be the first one of mine they have squelched. But lucky for guys
like me they don't own all the channels of distribution. This one will be
read.
