I think they are the same screws from your discription. The journal
was just a tad large. It's nominally about 15mm, and I bought 15mm
angular contact bearings, but they are about 12 thou smaller than the
journal and I thought that was too much to try to press on. Tell me
quick if I'm wrong but that's my logic.... The length of the journal
seems ok to me but I'm breaking new ground eveytime I do something. >>
Terry,
I went and miked mine. I swear it is dead on for the 15 mm bearings. Did
you double check all readings? I've not ordered my bearings but I'm possitive
mine will work as is. Just a feeling. Well, if they are different, no you
cannot press on with 12 thou interference. For this application, the
interference should be about a quarter thou at best, metal to metal would be
ideal. If you are not flogging your machine commercially, I'd say .001 under
would be OK too.
