Peter,
I think they are the same screws from your discription. The journal
was just a tad large. It's nominally about 15mm, and I bought 15mm
angular contact bearings, but they are about 12 thou smaller than the
journal and I thought that was too much to try to press on. Tell me
quick if I'm wrong but that's my logic.... The length of the journal
seems ok to me but I'm breaking new ground eveytime I do something.

I get to work on the mill only on weekends and so far I have squared
up a block to become the X-axis bearing support, but that's all I've
gotten on it. Plan to bore the bearing cavity this weekend.

I would like to retain the manual X & Y handles so I intend to add
an extention to the end of the screw which will mount the pulley and
the handle, I think there is enough length outboard of the bearing
nut area to support this without too much deflection.

I haven't gotten to looking closely at the Y-axis nut yet, haven't
pulled off the table, guess I'd better do that soon 8>). I tend to
try to do everything I can prior to taking the mill apart since I
don't have another one to work with if it's torn down.
