This isn't meant as a criticism, but this is the same kind of nonsense
I sometimes engage in. In the time you have spent writing about the
problem and calling dealers, you could have taken the drive apart,
found the problem, reassembled the head and ordered new parts. It
shouldn't take more than an hour take it apart, and put it back together.

Call this 'Fatherly Advice'.
