Bob,
If I was convinced that all the problems I faced were a couple bad
bearings, I'd probably do it. However, I've worked on enough machinery
to know that often one finds a can of worms, and more bad parts than one
thought. I've been bitten before when something was so worn, it couldn't
be put back together and work again.
There are some other issues with the head. Maybe related, maybe not.
It comes apart when I finish the job in 8 weeks, or sooner if it pukes.
In the latter case, I'd like to have a reconditioned spare sitting here.
Call me anal-retentive, but having spare parts laying around is
something that I learned from my dad and it's paid off enough times it's
worth the hassle. Do appreciate your viewpoint however.
Jon
And to Jon Elson:
Glad I gave a good look before slitting the timing belt in there, it
doesn't work the way I thought it did and needs to be there. Woulda had
to rebuild the head here and now if I'd make that little mistake....
