We used to do this at work with customers keyboards, sometimes just with the
caps, or the whole keyboard depending on the type.

Our receptionist had seen us putting keyboards in the machine in the office
cafe a number of times, and thought hers could do with a clean..

What she didn't know is that we were using a "warm" wash setting, as the
dishwasher was a commercial one which on it's default settings pressure
cooks the dishes, at a wee bit over boiling temp. A bit like a pressure
cooker. It was designed to sterilise plates etc in a restaurant type
situation.

Suffice to say the keyboard came out far less straight that it went in, it
didn't have a metal backplane or PCB inside it, and was all plastic. It
came out in a conformal shape to the bottom rack in the dishwasher. I just
about wet myself laughing when I saw it :-)))
