I'll have to disagree with you on this one based on actual experience.
I live in southern Colorado where the humidity level has gotten down to less
than 4%.
I have rugs through out the place I live in and we have gas heating. In the
winter, the static gets so bad, you get "good" shocks just walking across
the floor and turning on a light switch.
At any rate, I once blew out a modem AND a mouse because of static.!
