If you MUST drive the quill for your Z axis on a Bridgeport, I don't see why
you don't simly mount a pulley on the quills hadn feed and run a belt to a
stepper motor mounted on a bracket. I've seen this done several places.
It's much simpler than mounting rails and you wouldn't lose your angular
head adjustment this way either.
