Alan,

Thanks for clearing this up. I was thinking along the same lines as
Ballendo. But to remove the complexity of having to make the star
from some non-conducting material we could change the wiring to run
one common wire to one side of switches A, B, C and run seperate wires
from the other side of each switch. A a "switch open" state could be
detected either in software by looking at the three individual switches
or if you only wanted one input you could run the three inputs into either
an AND gate or an OR gate depending on polarity. This would be a total
of four wires instead of two but probably easier than making the star
out of ceramic :-)
