I'm just about to try milling some COARSE threads to eventually become
a telescope focuser.

I've added a stepper motor to my homebrew indexing head and will
connect that stepper to the X axis controller.

I'll use a 60 degree engraving cutter in the mill.

I'll "lie" to the CNC control program to the effect that 4000 steps
will make 1" of motion, when in fact, 4000 steps will result in ONE
rotation of the piece.

Then, to cut a 1tpi thread 1" long, the command is simply G01 X1 Y1.

If I'm lucky, the thread can be milled in one go, but just in case,
I've added an optical index so that I can return the piece to very
nearly the precise spot in the rotation.
