Tim,List,
I agree that the topics will vary over time, but this does not get
rid of the private emails both Art and myself are receiving. (I don't
mind them at all!)
There IS an intimidation at work here (unintentional, tho it may be,
as I originally posted), and I do hope that people WILL post their
smaller dreams/projects. But if we 'regulars' immediately start
talking about .00025 resolutions and 100 IPM+ speeds, they WILL quiet
down again, right quickly ,IMO...
While I didn't agree with J Kleinbauers method(s) of raising his
points, he DID have some good points. He IS selling 30 dollar plan
sets for a machine that was scoffed at by this list, twice! And there
ARE drives besides Geckos! (tho in a commercial drive, they ARE hard
to beat!)
My first stepper "driver" was made of paper clips and thumbtacks,
with 2 "d" cells for power. I was the "translator"! Taught myself
wave drive, full step, halfstep with a flag of tape on the motor
shaft... It IS ok to crawl first, IMO. I did. (still do?!)
If you look over the past several hundred messages, you will find
very little aimed at the low and slow guy/gal... Fact is, the "higher
end" people ARE dominating the list topics. And that's NOT what the
list description sez..
I'm not saying that there is a good solution, as I would not want the
list to be broken up (I believe in the synergy); but I brought this
thread up so that it WOULD be discussed. Also with the hope that
seeing it discussed might allow some of the low and slow hobby
types "room" to speak up.
So now I say to you out there, the door is open, I'm/We're hoping to
hear from you! (regardless of your project complexity or performance!)
Hope this helps.
