JRR,
I need to take exception with some of what you have said. A properly
designed cnc router is designed to cut aluminum and other soft metals. You
should always wear eye protection when working around any cnc machine. When
cutting aluminum, don't try and make large cuts. When I am pocketing, I
only go down 1/10 of an an inch at a time. I run my machine at 10 to 15
inches per minute.
Router bits bit when they break usually don't go supersonic. They usually
just fall where they are.
